How does Libre Infancia spiritually are for to the people in the area?
The main objective of Libre Infancia is for the children and their families to believe and to recognize Jesus as the Savior of their lives. We cannot tell the people that God will provide their food today, but we can reassure them that their God is a loving God, and that he will use his people to provide aid. Therefore the spiritual aid goes hand in hand with the material aid. The director and founder of Libre Infancia, Otto Álvarez, also preaches at the Temple of Glory, the church where families and neighbors of the children of Libre Infancia attend. Here, the families receive spiritual guidance and moral support from fellow believers who have the love of God in their hearts.

How does Libre Infancia choose the children that will receive aid and schooling?
There are many needy children and sadly our budget does not permit us to help every child. Therefore, those children with the greatest need and those whose parents show a desire to support their children are chosen.

What success has Libre Infancia achieved in these past 12 years?
Our greatest achievement to date is the existence of youths that have left the life of the guajero for other careers and have started families with a different outlook on life. It is also our joy to see many young men and women serving God and their community, which is in great need.

Another tremendous achievement for Libre Infancia was accepting the “Apoyando a quienes Apoyan” award from the Juan Baptist Gutiérrez Foundation. In 1996 Libre Infancia was one of 100 other institutions on a national level to participate in the competition and Libre Infancia was placed fourth over all! This award is just one testament of the impact that Libre Infancia has in the community.
